Katrina is the Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Sydney. A former copywriter turned art director she’s spent almost 20 years working in top creative agencies in both New Zealand and Australia.
During that time, she’s worked on international brands including Heinz, Mars, Apple, Toshiba and Pepsi as well as local brands Tourism New Zealand, Tourism Australia, myCar Tyre and Auto, Foxtel and Modibodi.
Career highlights include creating a campaign to #Classify Consent, making the first plate to recognise drivers returning to the road after trauma with R plates, sending a Human Pickle to La Tomatina for Heinz Pickle Ketchup, helping parents hack their kids’ tech devices at dinnertime with the Dolmio Pepper Hacker and creating a way to PLAY NZ during the depths of COVID.
Her work has been recognised at Cannes, D&AD, Clios, One Show, Spikes, Adfest, New York Festivals, AWARD, Fast Company and The Webby’s.
Recent highlights include her work for Classify Consent which has collected Grand Prix for Good at Spikes Asia, Gold at one Show, Innova Lotus ‘For Good’, Shortlisted for Glass at Cannes 2023 and Graphite at D&AD. In 2023 she has also had two different campaigns recognised by Fast Company as World Changing Ideas. Her work for Tourism New Zealand’s PLAY NZ also won Grand Prix at Spikes and was TBWA’s most awarded campaign globally in 2021.
Kat is a seasoned, trusted creative leader. Under her stewardship, TBWA\Sydney has picked up global awards recognition, year-on-year, and retained and won new business, year-on-year. Prior to TBWA, Kat worked at Y&R Wellington, Clemenger BBDO Wellington and Clemenger BBDO Sydney.
She is passionate about nurturing creative talent and served for two years as the National Co-Head of AWARD School. She currently sits on the AWARD Council, a board that seeks to develop the creative community in Australia.
In 2023 she was ranked the #3 ECD in Australia.
