Raafaye was a D&AD judge for the illustration category in 2022, where he was along side some of the most renowned international illustrators, here he was able to fight for a project that almost never got short listed. it not only got short listed, it managed to win one of the highest awards (a yellow pencil), placing the project under a spot light that it totally deserved.
Raafaye is an illustrator at Mother London where he visualises ideation to make ideas feel tangible for creatives to sell to clients, he dabbles in storyboarding, visual identity and anything that touches on illustration.
He utilises personal time to collaborate on projects around social justice for a human rights organisation, projects exploring and touching on intersectional feminism, toxic masculinity & politics. His personal illustrations seek to deconstruct and make information accessible.
As some one who has first hand experience encountering the obstacles in the creative industry he is passionate about advocating for a 'shift' for new generations to enter the industry from non traditional routes.
