- India
Vaishnavi Murthy Yerkadithaya is an India based Creative Type Director at Monotype, whose work bridges the realms of traditional Indic script research and modern digital type design. Driven by a deep interest in ancient writing systems, she pursued an MA in Type Design from the University of Reading, supported by the prestigious Felix Scholarship.
With over twenty years of experience as both a graphic designer and a type designer, Vaishnavi has contributed to the standardisation and encoding of the complex Tulu-Tigalari script. Her expertise spans the study of various intricate script systems and the conservation of manuscripts they typically are written on, focussing especially on India.
With a foundation in Graphic Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, she integrates type design within branding, UI/UX, and broader visual communication frameworks, enriching projects with her unique blend of cultural insight and technical finesse.
Looking ahead, she aspires to enhance the accessibility and usability of the various facets of India’s complex language systems, advocating for the necessary support that both written and oral languages demand.
