Paul is a founding partner of Commercial Type and Commercial Classics, internationally famed typefoundries with offices in New York and London. With his partner, Christian Schwartz, he was responsible for the Guardian typeface family, used in Mark Porter’s 2005 acclaimed design. He also revisited the faces in the 2018 redesign.
He has designed typefaces for Rapha, Wallpaper*, Visa, the National Trust, Puma, Umbro and most recently for the Victoria & Albert. As well as custom work he has designed many retail fonts including Publico (with Christian Schwartz), Austin, Chiswick Dala Floda and Marian. He has also been a typographic consultant to many titles including Wallpaper*, Harpers Bazaar, GQ and frieze.
