Ratna Desai is the Director of Product Design at Netflix, where she and her teams are helping to redefine the future of entertainment and storytelling. Her teams are focused on designing highly personalized experiences that enable Netflix members around the world to discover and connect to movies and TV shows they’ll love.
Prior to Netflix, Ratna was a UX Lead on the Search & Assistant team at Google where she led multidisciplinary teams to help define product vision and strategy. Her work focused on developing engaging, predictive experiences for the next generation of AI-first, Google products and services with the goal of responsibly shaping the human experience through machine learning. Ratna previously served as Head of UX for Google Express where her team designed shopping across digital and physical experiences, bringing your favorite stores right to your door, and scaled the service nationally.
Prior to Google, she served as Creative Director at frog design, a global design and strategy firm. She has been a Senior Lecturer at California College of the Arts in the Interaction Design program. Ratna takes a holistic, human-centered approach to business challenges, developing solutions that consider the broader cultural context with the belief that well-designed products can improve and ultimately, transform people’s lives.
