Clare Skeats

Clare is a London-based print designer, specialised in book design and art direction.

Since graduating in 1997, Clare has worked in-house as a cover designer for both Penguin Books and Random House.

From 2004–2006 she worked for the renowned British designer Margaret Howell, before leaving to set up her own freelance business. She now produces cover and internal designs for a range of publishing clients – most notably for Pushkin Press, which she rebranded in 2012 in collaboration with David Pearson.

She has worked with a number of leading illustrators in an art direction role and continues to be inspired by the work and methods of her students at Central Saint Martins where she is an Associate Lecturer in Graphic and Communication Design.
