Originally from Canada, Susanna Nygren Barrett studied fine art and graphic design in Vancouver and later completed a Masters Program at Yale University in Switzerland where she studied under the graphic design legend Paul Rand and renowned Swiss designer Armin Hofmann.
After working as a designer at multi-disciplinary design company Karo Design in Vancouver, she moved to New York City where she was a designer and creative lead for the design firm Liska + Associates. In 2000 she moved to Stockholm and became a partner and creative director at the design and branding firm BVD.
Currently, Susanna is the creative director and co-founder of the Stockholm design firm, The Studio, where she has lead strategic design and branding assignments for clients both locally and internationally for the past 8 years.
She is a guest lecturer, holds workshops at design schools and has sat on the jury of local and international design awards over the years. She has been recognised with design awards such as the AIGA, One Show, Type Directors Club, Gold Egg Awards (Sweden) and D&AD. Most recently she has been featured in the book Design(h)ers, published by Victionary featuring female talents in design today.
