David Smith
David Smith is a South African born writer and creative director.
Since starting his career in advertising, he has gained experience in several countries and has worked at some of the world’s best agencies, producing global campaigns for iconic brands such as Nike, ASICS, Coca-Cola, Heineken, Vodafone, Canon, and McDonalds.
According to The Wall Street Journal, his Olympic campaign for Coca-Cola was the USA’s most successful campaign during the 2008 games. The cultural impact of his work has received international recognition. His work has been covered by CNN, the BBC, The New York Times, and added to the permanent collection for cinematography at the MoMA in New York.
In his personal time, he writes about South Africa society and politics for The Guardian in the UK and the Mail & Guardian in South Africa.
