Jef Wong
Executive Creative Director
As Executive Creative Director of Designworks
Jef is responsible for driving and maintaining the overall
creative vision and quality standards of the studio.
His role is across multiple offices with over 60 staff.
Culture and creativity is a big focus for him, passionately
creating an environment to enable an open exchange of
fresh ideas, unexpected outcomes, and a collaborative
and enjoyable way of working.
His other responsibilities include nurturing and growing talent
at all levels and also driving and connecting the multidisciplinary
approach of the studio.
Jef has worked on a very diverse range of projects over
his 20year career from large-scale branding programmes
for nearly every sector. Large and small consumer and
FMCG brands, environmental and spatial projects,
wayfinding, digital and motion projects.
Clients include Air New Zealand, Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms
Telecom, DB Breweries, Heineken, Coca-Cola, Anchor Milk
Frucor Beverages, Semi-Permanent and
The New Zealand Dance Company.
Jef holds a Bachelor in Graphic Design from A.U.T, Auckland
New Zealand. His work has received numerous awards including
accolades from New Zealand Best Awards, AGDA, Good Design Awards
Interior Awards NZ, Art Director's Club, Graphis, Communication Arts
DesignWeek Awards UK, Pentawards, The Dieline
and has been featured in publications like Wallpaper
and Monocle magazine.
He is currently Convenor of Judges, Graphics for
the New Zealand Best Awards and have judged
2 times previously.
