Stéphane spent his teenage years marvelling over Stan Lee, waking up before his parents and leaving croissant crumbs all over the comic strip page of their morning paper. Already as a kid, he had an appetite for cliffhangers and great stories with unexpected endings. He’d entertain his friends by making up fantastical tales and judging by their reactions he figured he probably had some sort of talent for it. Not unexpectedly this led him to start his career as a scriptwriter, notably for CANAL+.

Fast forward to 1999, Stéphane joined BETC as a Creative Director. He later became President and Chief Creative Officer of BETC in 2007. In November 2019, Stéphane took on the role as President of BETC France, including all BETC activities and entities in France: BETC Paris, BETC Fullsix, BETC Etoile Rouge, BETC Corporate and BETC Design, General POP and Magasins Généraux.

BETC believes in the power of creativity to drive business results. The agency works with over one hundred brands, including evian, Citroën, CANAL+, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, Disneyland Paris, LEGO and many more.

Under Stéphane’s direction, BETC has become the largest agency in France and Europe and one of the most awarded in the world, mostly due to the endless stream of campaigns created by Stéphane for CANAL+. These campaigns include The Bear spot, which is the most awarded advertising film in history, the films The Closet, March of the Emperor and more recently Papa. Stéphane is also behind the innovative Instagram campaign Like my addiction which won 19 Cannes Lions in 2017.

His recent work includes campaigns Choose Uber and First Conversation for Heetch celebrating the Paris suburbs and Rob it to get it, a campaign for boutique running shop Distance, challenging runners to steal from its store.

In recognition of the consistent quality of its creative work and the richness of its corporate culture, BETC was named Adweek's 2019 International Agency of the Year.

BETC is n°1 in the WARC Creative 100 agency ranking, a first for a French agency.

In 2024, Stéphane was ranked among the Top Executive Creative Directors of the last 20 years according to the media Bestads.

Stéphane is also the inventor of CAI (Creative Artificial Intelligence), a unique software robot that creates ads and demonstrates the downsides of the industry.

In 2010, he founded BETC Academy, the agency’s internship programme that runs twice a year, offering young talents senior mentorship and the opportunity to work with real clients.

Stéphane was named Head of the Havas Global Creative Council in 2019.
