Ruth Berktold is Professor for Computer Integrated Architectural Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. She also just taught at City College in New York. Ruth is the principal of the Munich-New York based office YES architecture/ YES products.
Before starting YES architecture, she worked for Behnisch and Partner, Stuttgart, Prof. Eisele und Fritz, Darmstadt, Bernard Tschumi, Jim Polshek/ Ennead and Asymptote, New York, and dealt with projects of different scales for clients such as Daimler Chrysler and BMW. She was a professor for architectural and product design at RPI graduate school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY) and was teaching with Lise Anne Couture at Parsons School of Design, NY. She has been an invited member of many juries at NTNU Trondheim, Norway, Columbia University, Yale Architecture School and other European universities. Also she has been jury member for many architectural and product design competitions in Europe. In 2017 she was president of the product design jury at the Cannes Lions Awards. She is a member of the Chamber of German Architects, RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects, BDA - Bund Deutscher Architekten and AIA - American Institute of Architects. Prof. Ruth Berktold is an architect ,urban planner and product designer and lives and works between Munich and New York.
