Dan Formosa
“Understanding people” was an early thought in Dan’s design career. To achieve that goal he continued beyond design to study ergonomics and biomechanics, exploring people’s physical and cognitive abilities. He’s developed innovative ways to use design, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods in design research, and drawing on knowledge from a wide array of disciplines. Most importantly these methods have been design-actionable, having positive impacts on people’s lives.
Dan consults with companies worldwide on design and innovation. In addition to his personal work he recently co-founded two collectives, 4B (focusing on design and gender) and Brainpool (focusing on design and emotions). He also co-founded the Masters in Branding program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York.
