I'm Becky McOwen-Banks, an AI-energised Executive Creative Director with over 20 years of experience transforming and enabling global and local teams in the wonderfully chaotic world of AdLand and tech. When I'm not building high-performing teams for growth, nurturing talent, and leading agency transformations (which, let's be honest, is a bit of a passion of mine), I run Plain:ai, an AI consulting and training business. Plain:ai is all about preparing and propelling creative teams for what I see as the AI revolution – a chance to enhance, not replace, the magic of human creativity.
I'd describe myself as a 'creative catalyst for change'. I’m passionate about adding creative firepower with a unique blend of technology and good old-fashioned business sense. My expertise lies in helping agencies and brands navigate this exciting (and sometimes daunting) new creative landscape. I'm a firm believer that AI is a tool to amplify our creativity, not diminish it, and I'm dedicated to fostering cultures of innovation where teams can embrace these new technologies while staying true to the core principles of impactful storytelling.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, from global blue-chip brands to exciting startups, across sectors including FMCG, technology, and automotive. I’ve held senior leadership positions at some brilliant agencies, leading award-winning campaigns and driving significant business growth.
As a speaker, mentor, and vocal advocate for diversity and equality in the creative industries, I'm committed to creating a more inclusive and representative creative landscape. I genuinely believe that creativity is the ultimate human superpower, and I'm determined to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to unleash their creative potential in this AI-driven world. This belief is at the heart of my work with Plain:ai, where I provide practical training and consultancy to help creative professionals confidently integrate AI tools into their workflows – making them feel empowered, not threatened.
