Audrea Topps Harjo has worked for heavy-hitters throughout the entertainment industry including Sony Pictures Imageworks on CONTACT, STARSHIP TROOPERS, and STUART LITTLE; Obsidian Pictures on EPOCH OF LOTUS; Cinesite on X-MEN 2; Rhythm and Hues on GARFIELD; Ring of Fire on SKY CAPTAIN; Electronic Arts on MEDAL OF HONOR; WETA Digital in New Zealand on RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, THE AVENGERS, MAN OF STEEL, and PROMETHEUS; and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment on the AVATAR SEQUELS;
Upon returning to her hometown in 2015, Washington, DC, she has directed several commercials, served as Producer on the feature films SECRETS, ALL IN, which was awarded Best Narrative Feature at the American Black Film Festival in 2019, AVAILABLE WIFE, and THE FIRST LADY OF BMF: THE TONESA WELCH STORY, which is streaming on BET+.
After working as the VFX Producer for Mind and Machine on and Ridley Scott’s RAISED BY WOLVES, she served as Chief Operating Officer at A44 Games in Wellington, New Zealand and founded InclusionFX which is a platform designed to support and amplify underrepresented voices in the VFX, television and games industries.
In January 2023, she was recognized by the OCTFME as the Filmmaker of the Month.
Topps Harjo was born in Washington, D.C. She attended The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, majoring in theatre arts with a minor in dance. She graduated from Howard University with an M.F.A. in film. Her thesis film HARD CANDY was nominated for a Student Academy Award in 1993. She then moved to Los Angeles, where over the next thirty years she worked behind-the-scenes on various films to acquire a broad spectrum of experience in production including, independent feature film, high end visual effects, animation, and mobile and console games development.
