- D&AD Awards 2025
Early-stage designs and initiatives, still in research and development, that that are driving the success of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Work must have proof of concept and be commercially viable. Shortlisted entrants will have be invited to apply for a development grant from the £25,000 D&AD Impact Fund and to take part in the D&AD Impact Programme. Commercially released work will only be accepted in exceptional cases and entry into other Awards categories is restricted.
You cannot enter the same work into multiple Impact categories. Different guidelines apply to the Future Impact category; please refer to Awards Rules & Eligibility Criteria.

9001 - Design
Designs that can demonstrate the potential to create behavioural, environmental, social or policy change upon commercial release. Includes product designs, new materials, packaging innovations, digital design, service or systems design that aims to improve circumstances, access or quality of life. -
9002 - Design / Emerging Talent
Created by those still in education or recent graduates, designs that can demonstrate the potential to create behavioural, environmental, social or policy change upon commercial release. Includes product designs, new materials, packaging innovations, digital design, service or systems design that aim to improve circumstances, access or quality of life. -
9003 - Initiative
Strategic action that can demonstrate the potential to create behavioural, environmental, social or policy change upon commercial release. Includes fundraising initiatives, business initiatives, legislative action, forming alliances and community and regeneration projects. -
9004 - Initiative / Emerging Talent
Created by those still in education or recent graduates, strategic action that can demonstrate the potential to create behavioural, environmental, social or policy change upon commercial release. Includes fundraising initiatives, business initiatives, legislative action, forming alliances and community and Regeneration projects. -
9005 - Upstream Innovation
Solutions designed to fit within a circular system, where an upstream innovation approach has been applied to prevent waste. For solutions not yet commercially released that are reusable, returnable, recyclable or compostable, or where the need for materials has been eliminated. A fifth judging criteria applies to this subcategory: Is the design circular? -
9006 - Upstream Innovation / Emerging Talent
Solutions created by those still in education or recent graduates and designed to fit within a circular system, where an upstream innovation approach has been applied to prevent waste.
