Each year the D&AD Awards invites 250 of the best designers, advertising minds and creatives to cast their eye over 25,000 pieces of work, submitted from around the world. But it’s not just about awarding Yellow Pencils. We also capture the debate and discussion that goes on behind the scenes, and find out what it means for you and the work you produce.
What we learned from our Judges, and the projects submitted, is that creative work is profoundly shaped by our politics, society, and cultural experiences. The most powerful work taps into the needs, desires, frustrations and aspirations of society. Our research breaks this down into three major themes that represent some of the most influential forces, and biggest challenges, shaping creative work today.
We may be surrounded by disruption and unrest - as individuals, as an industry, and within our communities - but creative excellence rises from this, inspiring innovative solutions to some of our most pressing challenges. This report isn’t a crystal ball, nor will it tell you what work to create. Instead, we hope it offers inspiration, and helps you to produce relevant, respected and innovative work in 2019 and beyond.
