“The worst team is always made up of people who are good friends who can’t argue with each other,” says Niklas Frings-Rupp, Educational Instructor at Miami Ad School Europe, who moderated the talk Creativity in the Unlikeliest of Places at D&AD Festival 2023.

In this excerpt from that talk, the panel, composed of Miami Ad School alumni, explains how creative teams are formed at the school. “In the first quarters, those who have previous experience with software ace all the classes,” says Olowu Olukayode Qosi, Founder of OneWildCard. “But when you’re in the third quarter and it’s about thinking, that person you had ruled out is at the top because they’re bringing the ideas. That’s what balances the dynamic in the class. That’s when you see someone with the skillset of the craft trying to pair up with someone with the ideas. It’s always interesting to see how that plays out in the end.”
