D&AD New Blood Shift: Meet Caleb
Introducing the Shift New York Class of 2020
I grew up in rural Pennsylvania. My family was part of a religious denomination that restricts your contact with the outside world almost entirely. I spent my time peering through the window of social media at home. I was eager to learn more about what existed outside of my world. Travel bloggers and photographers particularly caught my attention. I lived every stolen moment of my childhood through them.
It was then that I discovered and refined my skill for photography and storytelling. Late in high school, through early uni, it was a passion that got me a lot of attention. I couldn't see the work I was creating, though. I had to overcome the clinging grip of anxiety holding on from my younger years. What I did recognize is that this camera was the key I needed.
Street Collected, my debut project, was born. As a photo-documentary on streetwear, I knew it was what would get me in front of the people I found so inspiring. To my surprise, it worked.
It was shortly after the start of the project that I got invited to attend NYFW. I started utilizing my love of art, food, and culture to create tasty content for social. After creating content for companies like Luis Vuitton, The Ritz Carlton, Suit Supply, I realized that my career was gaining momentum. I decided to move to New York. Now, I'm about three years into my new life. I split my time between NYC and LA. Mostly on shoots and social campaigns.
My goal is to solidify my career as a storyteller by either joining an agency full time or developing my network into a fruitful business I can depend on.
Then you can find me jet-setting.
