From penning poetry to editing a magazine

One former Shifter’s story of building a career from a love of words

Please accept marketing-cookies to watch this video.

Seun Areoye has always had a way with words, so much so it sometimes got him into trouble as a school kid. But now his career is built on them. He writes copy and comes up with naming concepts for brands, and flexes his storytelling skills as an editor for London-based culture magazine Gauchoworld — a bi-annual magazine and culture hub working at the intersection of music, fashion and sport.

Having dropped out of uni, Areoye found D&AD’s Shift programme, and developed and perfected professional creative skills, and made all important contacts. This springboarded him into a career where he could turn his passion into his profession. In this film, Areoye’s story is captured by another former Shifter, director Edem Wornoo, who graduated from D&AD Shift to make music videos for the likes of Stormzy. Music and sound design is composed by another former London Shifter, AyChibs.
