Pali Palavathanan is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of branding and digital agency TEMPLO, which focuses on creativity for change. Having first developed a love for design through drawing and graphics as a way to communicate as a child refugee, Palavathanan now runs his business based on principled ethics. TEMPLO collaborates with ambitious clients including the United Nations, the Climate Change Committee, Migrant Help, Amnesty International and the Mayor of London.

In this conversation with D&AD President Rebecca Wright, as part of the Still Learning Live series, Palavathanan discusses the influence his upbringing as a child refugee has had on his work, as well as his practice as a graphic designer, on which he says that “motion” is key – “I don’t have ideas at a desk”.
