Kai Enzo – Gyotaku Prints
Wood Pencil / Illustration / Printed Materials / 2024
Kai Enzo is a Japanese restaurant that combines the elegance of Japan with the vibrancy of the Mediterranean. As a high-end seafood restaurant, we used a traditional Japanese craft of fish printing called ‘gyotaku’ to create accurate, life-size fish impressions with a culinary twist.
The fish are carefully painted with kamei sumi ink; washi paper is placed over the top and brushed by hand with varying pressure where more or less detail is required.
The prints are used for menus within the restaurant and are printed faithfully on high quality Japanese papers.
