SWC
Future Impact Pencil / Future Impact / Design / Emerging Talent / 2024
SWC is a water collector designed to protect the growth of shelterbelts, made mainly from Senegalese catechu in the Sahara Desert. It stops the wind from knocking down immature tree trunks and preventing livestock from eating, and collects small amounts of dew and rain underneath, diffusing the water for the trees to grow. It will decompose back into the soil in about one to two years, and the top layer is coated with bitter oil, which can reduce the invasion of diseases and pests, reduce the disease of seedlings, and improve the survival rate of shelterbelts.
