For Wrapped, Spotify’s in-house team must create a design system and art direction for not just a global marketing campaign, but for what has become a massive cultural moment on the internet. This year, the campaign highlighted the convergence of users online and offline experiences, drawing inspiration from the nostalgia and energy of the early internet. By creating a free-flowing layered approach, Spotify created a system that was both emotionally compelling and highly functional, allowing it to be adapted across 170 markets and to handle the data of 700 million users.
