In Brazil, 54% of the population is Black, however 84% of journalists at the largest newspapers are white. In order to give more space to Black voices, Raça Magazine, the largest publication on Afro culture in Brazil, reimagined the Twitter format. Tweets have a limit of 280 characters, but the average number of characters used per tweet is 33, meaning there are on average 247 characters left over. Black Characters is a tool that completes your tweet in real time, filling in the unused characters with a reference to Black people and culture that's relevant to the theme of the tweet.
