An art and design education is never complete. Designers, artists, and scholars make the invisible visible through a constant, iterative dialogue with the materials and world around them. RISD has always attracted students who want to critically engage with culture and impact the future. Complete/Incomplete is a visual concept that translates into a set of open, flexible tools for the RISD community to use and evolve, including a custom superfamily of typefaces drawn by a RISD alum, who worked closely with RISD and the design team throughout its development.
What did the judges have to say?
Not only is the execution highly well done, but the name of the style – Incomplete – aligns with the concept of a typeface for a school, expressing how education is never-ending.
