Sociotype Journal is the type specimen for designers who like to read. Socio believes that typography should start conversations and spread new ideas, so rather than create type specimens with the customary pithy dummy copy, Socio founded the journal as a new platform for thoughts on culture and society. Each issue explores a single theme inspired by (and typeset in) a single type family from Sociotype. Issue 2, titled Makeshift, is a celebration of all things repurposed, repaired, and remade. The issue is an exploration of ingenuity on the hoof and ad hoc creativity under extraordinary circumstances.
