Fumble
Wood Pencil / Sound Design & Use of Music / Existing Music / 2022
In Fumble, a woman stumbles on a crack in the pavement and her iPhone slips from her grasp. What follows is an exaggerated and elaborate butterfinger ballet of stuttered awkwardness, as she fumbles to avoid her phone hitting the floor – all scored by the almost percussive vocals of Nitin Sawhney’s song The Conference. Failing to catch it, the iPhone finally ricochets off the woman’s knee and flies through the air before hitting the ground. But her panic turns to relief as she turns its screen to reveal no damage has been done, thanks to iPhone’s Ceramic Shield protection.
