The Uniform That Never Existed
Shortlist / Product Design / Promotional / 2022
Aída dos Santos was the only woman included in the Brazilian team that went to the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, and remained Brazil's highest placed individual athlete for more than 30 years. But she had to pay for her trip to Japan herself and competed without support, a trainer or even a uniform. With the help of Tracylocke Brasil, Centauro created a uniform incorporating the symbols of Aída dos Santos’s struggle. The uniform was presented it to her, and it is now being sold at Centauro. The aim is to make up for the historical injustice and collect donations to ensure that present and future generations of women athletes are supported.
