Trash has always been part of New York City's landscape – but this trash hides a dark secret: 3.9 million tonnes of food end up in the trash every year, all while one out of every nine New Yorkers goes hungry every day. Dole believes that good nutrition is a human right, so what if the places where people normally throw trash could be used to shine a light on this issue? Malnutrition Facts transformed an old symbol of waste into a new tool to fight hunger.
