Verizon’s spot, The Reset, emphasised what happens when lagging glitches and texture stretching issues that most video game players are well acquainted with are transposed into the real world. The spot begins in what feels like a normal neighbourhood, but things don’t look quite right. A paper boy makes his rounds, only to end up floating next to his bicycle. Elsewhere, a sprinkler glitches over and over again, a cat is stuck on a telephone pole as it continues to walk, a bus driver’s facial features are missing, a car drives through the air and a woman enters an office filled with red staplers as the floor disappears.
