Though the starting point was the design of plastic-free packaging for H&M’s 151 million online customers, the end goal was even more ambitious: to revolutionise the way H&M works. H&M is a 140,000-person company with eight brands under its umbrella. Rolling out innovative ideas quickly on a global scale is a major challenge. Together, the two companies created a multidisciplinary design team that not only launched an idea that will reduce the company’s use of plastic by 1,321 tons in 2021, but also built a movement for solving fashion’s biggest challenges through human-centred design.
