Millions of people live with speech and motor impairments. Despite progress, many still lack access to communication tools which are often prohibitively expensive, unreliable, and non-portable. As mobile devices become more ubiquitous, and technologies like machine learning are built-in, Google looked at how it could work alongside assistive technologies. Look To Speak is an Android app which enables people to use their eyes to select pre-written phrases and have them spoken aloud. The app provides new possibilities, especially for those who might now have access to this technology for the very first time.
