BBC Earth is one of the world’s premier nature channels. However in South Africa, the biggest draw cards are sport and reality shows. The challenge was to find a fresh way to demonstrate to consumers that nature can be entertaining and educational. The solution was the creation of a radio character called Kasi (Township) Sensei who, much like acclaimed senseis from martial arts blockbusters that South Africans know and love, derives his fighting style from observing animals. Except in his case, he happens to be watching these animals on BBC Earth.
