Andi Goes
Graphite Pencil / Writing for Design / Graphic / 2021
Dyslexia effects around 870k children in the UK yet fewer than 150k are diagnosed, leaving them without the support and causing a detrimental effect on their learning. Andi Goes is a children’s book that acts as an early detection tool for dyslexia. Produced alongside Dyslexia Specialist Teachers, it’s written to include key indicators of dyslexia, including Fry’s first 100 words, corrective partial decoding and processing difficulties. For the parent it acts as a detector, prompting them to seek specialist advice. For the child it’s a fable, teaching them to embrace what makes them different.
What did the judges have to say?
"It's an example of the power of a good idea coming to life with great writing and smart design. It helps parents detect early signs of dyslexia in their children by cleverly using the words in the story. It's a tool, but designed in a way that is uplifting and empowering for the parent and child."
