The New York Times Magazine: The New York Issue
Wood Pencil / Magazine & Newspaper Design / Consumer Magazines / 2020
This year, The New York Times’ annual New York Issue was devoted to live performance. The magazine focused on 12 people – ranging from a Metropolitan Opera singer to a subway performer to a sword swallower – to detail the blood, sweat and tears needed for an artist to thrive in New York. Photojournalist Brenda Ann Kenneally photographed each performer in the midst of their daily routines: backstage, onstage, rehearsing, commuting, eating, and relaxing.
