Recorder
Graphite Pencil / Digital Design / Digital Products / 2020
Over the past two decades, Google has made information more accessible through search. It’s made it possible for people to find the information they need, whether it’s text, photos, videos, directions, products, or even jobs. But much of the world’s information is conveyed through speech: meetings, interviews, lectures, and more. That’s why Google launched Recorder, a private, AI-first audio recording app that uses cutting-edge machine learning to transcribe speech and categorise audio.
What did the judges have to say?
Recorder is a great product. It is different, from the originality of the agency, and its success does not need to tell a good story, or to package a good case film. Even if we talk about design and art, it does not win by these. So how does it win? More humane AI wisdom, interpretation and perfection of technology, even the UI/UX is as simple and clear as possible. It makes the tool closer to life and makes it easier for users to get started. Believe that very simple work often requires more technical investment and cloud computing capabilities.

What it’s done a good job of is balancing the polishing and the craft and actually making something useful, usable and enjoyable to use.
