Embarrassing Plastic Bags
Wood Pencil / Experiential / Retail / 2020
Around the world, over one million single-use plastic bags are used every minute. East West Market, a Vancouver grocery store known for organic food and local produce, wanted to create an in-store reminder to help shoppers never forget reusable bags again. So it redesigned East West’s plastic bags to make them look like they came from other, more embarrassing stores. And they worked. During and after the campaign, 96% of customers brought reusable bags. The bags also received global press coverage encouraging people everywhere to think twice about single-use plastic.
