Unlock
Graphite Pencil / Direction / TV Commercials / 2019
A student unlocks her iPhone X with Face ID discovering an ability to unlock everything with just a look. Running through school, she opens lockers, art cupboards, and even some trapped amphibians. “Unlock” was a very simple idea that director Dougal Wilson (working with the creative team), tried to push as far as possible in terms of narrative and in-camera techniques. The story was precisely timed to an existing piece of music and practical effects involving hydraulics, air-mortars, and electronic triggers were employed to make things “unlock” in synchronicity with the actor’s performance.
