Prescribed to Death
Graphite Pencil / Experiential / Public Environments / 2018
In 2015, 22,000 Americans died from a prescription overdose. And most Americans think the opioid epidemic is a problem only for addicts. Prescribed to Death is a memorial that humanises the devastation caused: using precision machine crafting, 22,000 faces of real-life fatalities were carved onto pills. The memorial is driving awareness through a nationwide tour, with many adding 'Warn Me' labels to insurance cards, demanding accountability from opioid prescribers.
