What are girls made of?
Wood Pencil / Film Advertising Crafts / Use of Music for Film Advertising / 2017
“What our girls are made of” is one of the most recognizable and loved songs from Russian childhood. Still sung by children and parents from an early age, the song’s verses sweetly describe little girls as made of “flowers”, “gossip” and “marmalade”.
To challenge these subtle, but outdated notions of gender roles, the film rewrites the lyrics and highlights some of Russian’s strongest athletes, in the hope of creating a new dialogue around what’s possible.
