URSA Mini OS
Wood Pencil / Digital Design / User Experience Design (UX) / 2017
Brief:
Improve the user experience for the Ursa Mini camera through redesigning the user interface & navigation system.
The navigation system must allow for quick & easy operations that are practical for both beginner & more experienced users working in high pressure situations for film & TV.
The interface design must be clear & easy to comprehend, creating actions that feel intuitive, in effect improve user’s efficiency & their overall experience. Users need to love this product.
Solution & Cultural Context:
During the redesign we focussed on how the Ursa Mini was used in different situations & by who.
Our challenge was to create an experience that users would love because it dramatically improved their workflow.
Working in the TV and film industry can be extremely high pressure. We wanted to make their jobs quicker, easier and less stressful which ultimately would enable them to be more creative.
Viewing Instructions:
All the primary camera controls are one touch away & can be adjusted while still viewing the picture, freeing up valuable shooting time.
A modular based menu system reduces comprehension and selection time and allows for future scalability.
The ‘Flicker Free Suggested Shutter Angles’ is an exciting world first feature with users no longer having to calculate the correct angle.
LUTS can be loaded into the camera to preview how footage will look after the post production process.
