Pocket Fire Extinguisher
Wood Pencil / White Pencil - Creativity for Good / Design - Not for Profit / 2015
In the City of Las Piñas, some of the biggest fires occur in the slums. Here, houses are densely packed and the poor families occupying them can't afford costly fire extinguishers. The Pocket Fire Extinguisher is the answer. When the plastic canister inside is cracked, the baking soda and vinegar react and the solution expands. Tearing the pre-cut tab then releases a stream of liquid that can extinguish small flames. Now being distributed across the Philippines, the PFE is a cheap, effective, life-saving solution to an enormous problem.
