Living the Nordic Light
Wood Pencil / Graphic Design / Annual Reports / 2015
With Living the Nordic Light, lighting manufacturer Zumtobel aimed to capture individual experiences related to the presence of light, shade and darkness, before and after the introduction of electricity. Zumtobel sought to find out whether the dark winters and bright summers could influence residents' conscious or unconscious behavior, and whether there are demonstrable effects on their psyches or actions. To shed some light on the topic, Snøhetta found four centenarians who had lived their entire lives above the Arctic Circle. They headed north along with authors, photographers, and scientists to explore how light, and its absence, affects humans. The result of their escapades is Zumtobel's 2013/14 annual report Living the Nordic Light.
