The Threepenny Opera
Graphite Pencil / Graphic Design / Catalogues & Brochures / 2015
The Bertolt Brecht play the Threepenny Opera is usually set in Victorian London. For this production, at Teatr Polski in Pozna_, the director had displaced the action to post-war Berlin. With the theatrical programme, the design task was to respect the content of the play, together with the underlying idea of the altered setting. The treatment was inspired by the ephemera and typography of post-war Berlin, with pink paper and erotic photographs juxtaposed with instruments of crime, to express the play's adventurous plots points. In contrast, the cover was creased and cut in size to reference the production deficiencies and limited paper supply of post-war Berlin.
