The SoundCloud headquarters are located on the former site of the Berlin Wall. So, to mark the 25th anniversary of its fall, SoundCloud launched the Berlin Wall of Sound, an audiovisual reconstruction of the Berlin Wall. The memorial acted as SoundCloud's global landing page for a week. The track's waveform mirrors the exact shape of the Wall, and its 7:32 duration represents the exact time needed for sound to travel the Wall's original 155 kilometre length. Typical SoundCloud tracks allow users to post comments that appear within the waveform. This track, instead, featured short memorials for the 120 women, men and children who lost their lives in their attempt to live in freedom.
