Exobiotanica
Yellow Pencil / Crafts for Design / Photography for Design / 2015
Makoto Azuma is a Japanese botanist and flower artist who aspires to capture moments of life. In an attempt to capture the ultimate moment, in which life exists in an environment that cannot support it, he launched a 50-year-old bonsai tree and a bouquet 30,000 metres into the stratosphere using a specially equipped high-altitude balloon. Breathing new life into a traditional art form, super high-resolution cameras captured an image every second, creating 12,000 art pieces which were released and sold on the Exobiotanica website.
