Tokyo Lights Four S For S
Wood Pencil / Spatial Design / Environmental Design / 2014
About 3km from Nihonbashi to Ginza is the center of Tokyo where an international streetscape is found. The streetlights have been changed 4 times since 1874. It was time to install new ones in the 21C and our proposal was accepted. We thought up 4 concepts to realize a sustainable society. Innovation to materials, Reuse of recycled products, Establishing energy-saving systems and Creating symbols of areas. They were designed to capture the view of Tokyo. By Mar. 2013, 236 lights were installed. We believe it was a success to create a sense of unity and a luminous landscape in Tokyo.
