TXTBKS
Yellow Pencil / Mobile Marketing / Innovative Use of Mobile Technology / 2014
In the Philippines, public schools kids as young as seven must bring up to 22 books daily, leaving them exhausted and unfocused even before their first class— begins. An average Filipino family just can't afford an e-book. But they do have older generation analog phones, which Smart, the country's largest telco would soon turn into a new kind e-reader. Existing school texts where condensed and programmed into the inboxes of their older surplus sim cards. When loaded into any cellphone, it effectively turned it into a light and handy school book. We called this low-tech solution TXTBKS.
