The Australian Bureau of Statistics wanted to show disinterested Australians just how important Census data can be. So we took the Census data from every postcode in Australia, and turned it into a game. We let players take control of their actual town, modelled on their real-life neighbourhood’s Census demographics. While Census data might not be a high interest category for the average Australian, this game about statistics has been played by more than 70,000 people, offering each of them a unique perspective on what the data actually means, how it can be used, and why it matters
