The New Republic Redesign
Wood Pencil / Magazine & Newspaper Design / Entire Magazines / 2014
The New Republic's goal is to design a magazine that respects our tradition of long form journalism, while mixing in more modern magazine elements. We showcase a design and art direction that has a sense of restraint, while still taking some risks and exploring new ways of visual story telling. Inventive typography is key to our brand's identity, allowing us to elevate the editorial goals of stories. We are careful not to over-design and illustration is central to the magazine. Our ampersand series allows artists to interpret the ampersand from our "Books & the Arts" slug.
